Fantastic show! The Winchester in Newton reached full capacity on Saturday with one of the liveliest crowds I've had the pleasure of performing for. The show that packed out the Winchester was Puttin' on The Britz, presented by the Rock n Roll Circus. There were so many wonderful performances by gorgeous performers including Trixi Tassels, Miss Tittle Tattle, Penny Pins, Trixxie Vixen, Miss Girdle Buster, Sugar Spanx (the artful producer also), Dolly Destory and myself. It was such a treat to see Londoner Trixi Tassels perform, her act to Fever was so engaging and polished, it set a standard to aspire to. I also have a burning desire to learn to fire twirl... watch out people. I debuted two new acts, Wuthering Heights and Anarchy in the UK. Wuthering Heights featured my first ever fan dance in public and has fast become one of my favourite acts. Sophie Divet drew me as part of a live art performance, a photo of her amazing work is below. Can't wait for the Rock n Roll Circus to Roll into town again!

In response to recent events I want to make the following observation/public service announcement: Times I have been harrassed before/during/after a burlesque performance = 0 This is as you would expect - because harassment is a problem with the harasser, not a problem with the harassee's clothing, or lack thereof. It's not a problem with the harassee's body, their actions, their decision to go out at night, or their decision to drink. Don't perpetuate myths by calling women who wear short skirts 'sluts' and claim they are 'asking for it'. Don't be a douchebag, don't harass women. (Oi, don't harass men either.) http://eh-kay-forty-seven.posterous.com/get-out-of-the-kitchen-and-onto-your-streets Full Noise Music & Event Management and The Rock n Roll Circus present Aloha! 1950 – a night of burlesque performances, live entertainment, traditional Hawaiian music and a whole lot of fun all rolled into one. I'll be peforming alongside Blue Harlot, Miss Chiff Minx, Penny Pins, Ruby Von Rifle, and Sugar Spanx! The wonderful Diva Magique will be performing & DJs Briggsy and 3040 will be spinning some tunes. Plus I have a special treat for you – a collaboration with Miss Ruby Von Rifle! I'm getting my nails done by Monaco Nail Artists, glamorous fingers crossed their wonderful work doesn't chip off when I play my ukulele! Tickets go on sale through Eventfinder on 6 August. Show starts at 9pm sharp. $10 presales, $15 on the door. 'Amoureux', it's a tricky one.
Luckily the internet comes with a handy audio file teaching you how to pronounce this most tricky, yet useful, of words: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/amoureux I find I can only pronounce 'amoureux' semi-properly if I lower my chin, cast my eyes sideways, and utter it in a low gravelly purr like a libidinous French baguette merchant (Boulanger?). Though whatever works for you! Ooh la la, c'est un baguette pour moi? C'est magnifique! x AL'A p.s. Yep grammar police, french for 'lover' (feminine) is indeed 'amoureuse', not 'amoureux'. p.p.s. Haha 'Wiktionary', that's up there with 'Wookieepedia' (the Star Wars wiki). Roll Up! Roll Up! Boys and Girls, Ladies and Gentlemen! Roll up! I'm next performing at the Rock n Roll Circus at the delightful Khuja Lounge on May 18th. Sadly, I was unable to obtain a tiger, though I do have some special moves which I'm practicing just for you! I'll be performing two routines, along with other delicious performers Bee Bee Bloom, Penny Pins, Sugar Spanx and Amunet, plus many bands and assorted hi-jinks! More information right... here and also... here! Hello, so I have a brand new, sparkling website, how very exciting!
Now if only one could find a way to affix rhinestones to a webpage... Anyway, this is my site, and this is in particular is the area where I'll be posting any random Burlesque related tidbits that tickle my fancy. Welcome, and I hope you enjoy the site! x AL'A |
