Burlesque Act Development

Are you ready to push your acts further? Join one of New Zealand’s most creative burlesque artists in this concept-driven act development workshop. Learn techniques to help you think creatively and critically about act choices, music, character, costume and movement, and how all these elements fit together. We will discuss creative act concept, and the processes involved in the development and refinement of a great burlesque act.

Introduction to Branding for Performers

What is your performer brand and how do you communicate that brand to a potential audience? How do you market yourself while retaining artistic integrity? Drawing on over ten years experience working as part of design and marketing teams for the arts and cultural sector, award winning designer Amourous Ava is here to give you pointers to help you successfully use visual assets and design to market your burlesque persona. 

In this workshop we will discuss:
  • Defining your brand as a performer
  • How to work with photographers or designers to create images that represent your burlesque persona in the best way possible 
  • What makes a good logo, business card and other marketing materials
  • Creative merchandising
  • Performer websites 
  • Feedback on your existing business cards/marketing materials to help make them more effective
